When viewers tuned in to The Ellen Show on NBC a few weeks back, there was a crucial element of the show that was missing from the show, the host, Ellen DeGeneres. It turned out Ellen took the day off and enlisted the help of her celebrity friends to host the show in her place. They were guests on her show last September and the audience and viewers simply loved them and it just made a lot of sense for Ellen to ask them to host. That’s why, when the day’s audience applauded and viewers turned on their TV sets, they cheered when they saw mom and daughter, Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson, step out to take over hosting reins from Ellen for the day.
Kate Hudson first came out, wearing a bohemian kaftan with high heeled boots, sporting short hair with tight waves, and introduced herself as that day’s show host, with her mom, Goldie Hawn, who was “always late.” But then, Goldie came rushing out onto the stage, wearing a white pantsuit and white heeled boots. The crowd cheered at the sight of Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson in front of them while Goldie apologized for being late.
The Ellen Degeneres Show is a daytime TV talk show on NBC hosted and produced by American comedian, actress, and writer Ellen Degeneres since September 8, 2003. The Ellen Degeneres Show filled the day time TV talk show void when The Oprah Winfrey Show went off the air on May 2011. Since then, the Ellene Degeneres Show surpassed The Oprah Winfrey Show in terms of awards, having won 59 Daytime Emmy Awards and 17 People’s Choice Awards in a span of 14 years. The Oprah Winfrey Show won 47 Daytime Emmy Awards in a span of 14 years.
Ellen’s episodes always include the same segments, a comedy skit by Ellen at the start, celebrity guests, human interest stories and ends the show with a performance by their musical guest. But before she moves on to her guests, Ellen always ends her skit by dancing with her audience.
Kate and Goldie were super excited to host the show but Goldie was more excited to dance with the audience under the DJing skills of DJ Twitch. If you weren’t aware, Goldie actually started her entertainment career as a dancer. She moved to California in the 1960’s from Washington, D.C. and got a job as a dancer for a theater show across Disneyland. After that, she got her first credited role in CBS sitcom Good Morning, World in 1967 and cast in a few films after that, including The Cactus Flower in 1969, where she won an Academy Award. And that’s when her film career took off.
In this episode, Kate and Goldie recounted Kate’s experience giving birth to her youngest daughter, Rani Rose, last Oct. 2018. Oliver Hudson, Goldie’s oldest son and Kate’s older brother, appeared on the show to share stories of how their mom embarrassed them when they were kids. But the best part was when Goldie and Kate crashed a Warner Bros. Studio tour! It was a fun show, which everyone enjoyed, judging from the non-stop laughter and cheers from the audience.
